Finance Officer - Band 5 - Newtownards - Hybrid

You will be joining a large, well established public sector organisation that delivers essential services across the region. The finance function is undergoing continued development, and the team is seeking a motivated finance professional to support effective financial planning, performance monitoring and informed decision-making. Your new role
As the Finance Officer, you will support senior finance colleagues and operational managers by providing clear, accurate financial information. Key duties include:

• Assisting with annual budget setting and ensuring plans align with organisational priorities.
• Supporting the development of efficiency, recovery and contingency plans.
• Identifying financial risks early and helping agree corrective actions.
• Enhancing the use of financial systems, reporting tools and analytical processes.
• Producing ad hoc financial reports and resolving queries from senior management.

What you’ll need to succeed
You must meet one of the following criteria:

• Degree + 2 years’ relevant finance experience
• AAT/HND + 2 years’ relevant finance experience
• Part qualified CCAB + 1 year’s relevant finance experience
• 3 years’ relevant Band 4 equivalent experience

You will also demonstrate:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High Excel competency
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (accruals, prepayments)
• Ideally, experience in management accounts and variance analysis
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
