Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract | Hybrid Working

We are looking for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality mechanical design solutions. Working across a variety of projects, you will produce 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation while championing a right-first-time approach.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems to project briefs
Produce accurate 3D models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation
Manage drawings, BoMs, and models using internal systems
Review colleagues’ designs and participate in design reviews
Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and ISO 9001 processes
Improve designs through DfMA and value-engineering practices

Experience

Strong 3D CAD capability (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Good knowledge of BS 8888 technical drawing standards
Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
Clear communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines
High attention to detail with a commitment to quality

Desirable

Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, Degree, etc.)
Experience with PDM systems (Autodesk Vault preferred)
Knowledge of machinery design standards, bulk material handling, or conveyor systems
