A FMCG business based in Nottingham have a new vacancy for a Project Engineer. You will be responsible to manage projects across the whole factory and warehouse. Key Responsibilities of a Project Engineer:
To manage and lead CAPEX projects ranging from £5000 to £1.5million
Manage small-medium sized projects independently, ensuring safe and efficient project implementation.
Keep project documentation up to date as required
Budget Management.
Monitor and control contractors to ensure safe and effective working, ensuring induction documentation is completed and contractors are controlled.
Liaise with the site engineering team to ensure effective communication of project goals and objectives.
Communicate project programmes and requirements to the business stakeholders.
Keep project stakeholders up to date with project progress.
To take charge and implement project mechanical and electrical tasks.
To help design machinery and systems including building updates as required
To investigate new machinery and technology which could be used throughout the business.
To keep up to date with food technology and production research and development in the industry, attending exhibitions and shows as required.
Train production team members as required in the implementation of projects.
Skills and qualifications of a Project Engineer:
Must have a minimum NVQ Level 3 Engineering
Must be proficient in CAD
Must have worked in fast-paced environment – Ideally food or FMCG manufacturing
Monday to Friday days
£55000 - £65000 dependant on experience

This is an office-based role, with occasional visits to customer sites in the UK.
You will be the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, from order receipt through to successful handover, ensuring an outstanding customer experience at every stage.

The role of a Project Engineer:
• Take ownership of projects from receipt of order to successful installation and handover
• Develop and agree project scope with the customer and sales team
• Maintain project schedules using Gantt charts
• Produce project documentation including Scope of Supply, timing plans, P&IDs, BOMs, and layout drawings
• Specify and source components and equipment
• Manage project changes and ensure timely communication
• Organise delivery, installation, and Customer Acceptance Testing (FAT/PDI)
• Oversee packing, shipping, and export documentation where required
• Prepare installation plans, book resources, and produce documentation (RAMs)
• Conduct Site Acceptance Testing, training, and documentation handover
• Remain commercially aware, ensuring invoices are issued on time
• Occasionally visit customer sites to see equipment in action; minimal travel required (approx. 10% or less)
The qualifications & skills required to become a Project Engineer:
• Experience in a similar role, ideally within food processing or engineering projects
• Proven track record of delivering successful engineering projects
• Enthusiastic, proactive, and “can-do” attitude
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and MS Project
• Proficient in AutoCAD LT
• Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipework; basic understanding of electrical control systems advantageous
• Full UK Driving Licence required
