Carmichael UK is working with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering critical utilities works on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. We are seeking an experienced Utilities Senior Engineer to support the coordination and delivery of complex utility diversion and protection works as part of this major infrastructure programme.

The Role

As Utilities Senior Engineer, you will take responsibility for the engineering management of utilities packages, working closely with statutory undertakers, designers, and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the engineering delivery of utilities diversion and protection works

Coordinate works involving water, gas, electric, telecoms, and HV/LV services

Liaise with statutory undertakers and third-party stakeholders

Review designs, raise technical queries, and manage approvals

Oversee setting out, inspections, and quality assurance documentation

Support planning and programming activities, including look-ahead planning

Manage and support Site Engineers working on utilities packages

Ensure compliance with permit requirements, and HS2 standards

Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance

About You

Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering

Proven experience as a Senior Engineer / Section Engineer delivering utilities works

Strong knowledge of utility diversions and services coordination

Experience working on major civil or infrastructure projects (HS2 experience advantageous)

Confident communicator with experience dealing with statutory undertakers

CSCS card (essential)
