We’re hiring a Principal HV Cable Design Engineer to take technical ownership across major grid and renewable infrastructure projects.

Not a back-room checker.

The Role

You are the technical authority on HV cable design.

• Lead design of 33kV-400kV cable systems
• Develop routing, thermal calculations, bonding designs and jointing philosophies
• Oversee cable ratings and ampacity studies
• Review and sign off detailed engineering outputs
• Interface with civils, substation, and protection teams
• Provide technical guidance to junior and senior engineers

You’ll influence design standards, not just follow them.

• Onshore HV export cable systems
• Large-scale substation interfaces

These are nationally significant projects. High scrutiny. High standards.

What We’re Looking For

You’ve already earned your stripes.

• Proven experience in HV cable design (132kV+ preferred)
• Deep understanding of cable systems (XLPE, bonding, sheath calculations)
• Strong knowledge of UK utility standards
• Experience leading design reviews
• Commercial awareness - you understand buildability and cost impact
