Permanent Data Architects and Data Engineers | £60k-£80k per annum | London (Hybrid)

We are looking for Data Architects and Data Engineers with at least five years’ experience who are ready to take the next step in their careers.

This role is designed for strong data professionals who want to move beyond pure delivery and begin shaping how data platforms are designed, governed and scaled. You will work on large public sector digital programmes, helping teams build modern cloud-based data services while developing your architecture and technical leadership skills.

The role

You will work as part of multidisciplinary delivery teams designing and building modern data platforms. Depending on your strengths, you may focus more on engineering delivery or on architectural design, but you will be supported to develop both skillsets.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Designing and building scalable data pipelines and data models.

• Supporting the evolution of cloud-native data platforms using layered or medallion-style architectures.

• Working closely with architects to shape technical decisions and platform patterns.

• Improving data quality, governance, lineage and metadata practices.

• Helping delivery teams turn complex requirements into simple, maintainable data solutions.

• Contributing to technical standards and reusable design patterns.

• You will remain close to delivery while gradually taking on more architectural responsibility.

About you

You may currently be a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, Analytics Engineer or working in a similar data-focused role and looking for a step up.

We are interested in people who:

• Have around five years’ experience working with data platforms or analytics solutions.
• Understand data modelling concepts and enjoy structuring complex datasets.
• Have experience with SQL and ideally Python or similar languages.
• Have worked with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Want to grow into architecture or technical leadership roles.

Desirable experience:

• Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric or Databricks.
• Building semantic models or supporting Power BI.
• Exposure to data governance or cataloguing tools.
• Experience working in agile delivery environments.
