We are currently seeking an experienced Thermal Design Engineer to support the design and development of ultra-low temperature refrigeration systems. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering team working on cutting-edge technology within a regulated product environment.
You will play a key role in the full product development lifecycle, from concept through to validation and manufacturing support, using an agile approach to deliver high-performance and cost-effective refrigeration solutions.
Key Responsibilities
As a Thermal Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing ultra-low temperature refrigeration systems to meet customer and product requirements.
- Applying numeric calculation and modelling methods to validate design performance while minimising reliance on prototypes and experimental testing.
- Developing and reviewing system and component specifications for both prototype and production units.
- Ensuring specifications are feasible and cost-effective by working closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation to meet regulatory and organisational standards (including ISO 9001 and ISO 13485).
- Supporting refrigeration testing activities, ensuring testing plans meet required quality standards.
- Guiding test engineers through planning and execution, analysing results, and driving product improvements.
- Contributing to the refrigeration technology roadmap by researching and developing innovative technologies and solutions.
- Supporting field quality issues by providing technical expertise to identify root causes and recommend short- and long-term corrective actions.
- Providing engineering support to manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and safety standards are met.
