Cost Engineer (Contract)

Location: Barrow-in-Furness (hybrid: 2 days a fortnight onsite)
Rate: £63.40 / Hour Umbrella or £47 / Hour PAYE

Contract Lenght: 6-Months

Morson Edge are proud to be working with a leading Barrow based defence client who are looking for an experienced Cost Engineer / Cost Control Lead, the Cost Engineer will lead cost control activities, ensuring day-to-day spend aligns with budget and forecasts, and providing clear visibility of cost performance.

Key responsibilities Lead cost control across the AVC project Monitor and control day-to-day project spend

Maintain and update cost forecasts and Estimate at Completion (EAC)

• Identify and explain cost variances and trends
• Produce clear, accurate cost reports for stakeholders
• Support PM&C activities on a project or work package

Experience & skills

• Proven experience as a Cost Lead / Cost Engineer
• Dreadnought experience desirable; Oil & Gas or similar regulated industries also suitable
• Strong analytical and logical approach to cost control
• Advanced Excel skills (essential)
• SAP experience desirable; P6 knowledge advantageous
• PM qualification preferred but not essential

About the role

• Join a team of 6 PM&C professionals
• On-site presence typically Tuesday & Wednesday every fortnight with some flexibility
• Role subject to security and export control restrictions
