AbouttheRole

ReportingtothePrincipalEngineer,youllcarryoutawiderangeofelectricaldesigntasksacrossindustrial,commercial,andpublicsectorprojects.Thisincludesconceptanddetaileddesignduringpre-constructionandtenderstages,reviewingthird-partydrawings/specs,andcontributingtoPCSAsandinvestment-gradeproposals.

Youllbepartofateamofelectricalengineers,responsiblefordesigningelectricalplantlayouts,switchrooms,substations,cableandequipmentsizing,lightingandcontainmentsystems,andgeneralbuildingservices.HVdesignexperienceisaplus.

Inaddition,you’llmanageandsupportjuniorengineers,assigningtasks,reviewingwork,andensuringprojectdeliverablesaremetontimeandwithinprogramme.

KeyDuties:

• Electricaldesignworkduringpre-constructionstagesandduringprojectdeliveryasrequiredbythedepartmentsworkload.
• Responsibleforthetimelyexecutionofelectricaldesigndeliverablesontender/bidprojects
• Daytodaydecisionmakingontendersandprojects.Providesadvicetointernalstakeholdersandclients
• Takesaholisticviewintheselectionandapplicationofengineeringconceptsandsolutions
• RepresentVitalEnergiattechnicalmeetingswithcustomers,professionalteamsandcontractorteams
• Ensureengineeringcalculationsanddrawingsmeetrequiredrobustindustryandlegalstandards
• Surveyandreportonexistingelectricalinstallations
• Workwithinmulti-disciplinaryworkwinningteamstodelivertechnicallycomplianttenders
• Leadonthecoordinationofengineeringservices
• Engageequipmentvendorsupplychaintoensureelectricalequipmentselectionsarevalidtechnically,specificationcompliant,valueformoneyandavailablewithinprogramme
• Haveanawarenessofcostimplicationswithindesign.
• Assistwitheffectivelydealingwithdesignissuesandminimisingtheirimpact.
• Abilitytodesignsystemsintheformofcalculations,equipmentselectionandprocessoperation.
• Liaisingwithexternaldesigners,customersandVitalEnergisin-houseprojectteams.
• CompliancewithCDMrequirementsandourinin-housedesignprocesses.
• Abilitytodesignsystemsintheformofschematics,calculations,equipmentselection,detaileddrawingsandprovideinputsforcontroloperatingstrategies.
• Ensuringcompliancewithlegislationandbestpracticewithcompanyprocedures.
• Takesaholisticviewintheselectionandapplicationofengineeringconceptsandsolutions

Skills/Experience

ThePerson:

• Thesuccessfulcandidateswillideallybequalifiedatdegreelevelorsimilar(HNC/HND),withaminimumofcirca3to5yearsrelevantexperienceworkingforaconsultancyoracontractor.Theindividualswillhave:
• KnowledgeofMSofficeapplicationsword,excel
• ExperienceusingTrimbleProDesign(Amtech)
• GoodunderstandingofthelatesteditionoftheIETWiringRegulation
• Soundknowledgeofelectricalbuildingservicesdesign
• Abilitytoprioritizeownworkloadandworktodeadlines.
• Soundknowledge&workingapplicationofkeyhealthandsafetyissuesandlegislation.
• Chairing/facilitationofmeetingskills
