Job Role & Responsibilities:
Electrical-biased Maintenance Engineer responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of automated FMCG production equipment. The role focuses primarily on planned maintenance, fault-finding, and continuous improvement within a mixed-age manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated production and packaging equipment
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
- Support mechanical maintenance tasks including bearings, pumps, gearboxes, and valves
- Work proactively to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Operate independently during shifts while contributing to the wider engineering team
- Support continuous improvement and CI-focused activities
- Participate in shift cover, with flexibility to move onto nights if business needs require
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering via apprenticeship
- Strong electrical bias with multi-skilled maintenance experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar FMCG or manufacturing environment (food preferred, not essential)
- Experience working on conveyors, packaging, and automated equipment
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work alone on shift
Desirable Skills:
- FMCG or food manufacturing background
- Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset
- Experience working with both legacy and modern machinery
- Comfortable working within structured engineering teams and reporting lines
