Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects, including process mapping, product flow optimisation, and shop floor layout enhancements.
  • Program, prove, and operate a range of machinery such as CNC profile machining centres and punching equipment, while providing training to colleagues where needed.
  • Prepare cost analyses and justifications for new products and product improvements to support project evaluation and decision-making.
  • Develop manufacturing support documentation (e.g. process sheets, work instructions, control plans) to reduce defects and boost productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design team to support new product development, product changes, and process improvements, while also assisting other departments where required.
  • Research, justify, and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies.

Experience & Education

  • Honours Degree (minimum 2:2) in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, or at least 5 years relevant experience.
  • HND/HNC (minimum Merit) in Mechanical or General Engineering with 10 years experience also considered.
  • Time-served apprenticeship is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in production engineering within both high-volume and bespoke low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong practical engineering background with hands-on experience.
  • Knowledge of aluminium extrusion, injection moulding, pressings, castings, and joining techniques (welding, riveting, etc.) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with process line manufacture and fabrication machinery is beneficial.
  • CAD skills, particularly in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, are advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills to drive projects through to completion.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage across internal teams and with external suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, with a proactive approach, strong work ethic, and willingness to embrace new opportunities.

If you are looking for a role where you can make a real impact on processes, productivity, and product development, we would love to hear from you.
