About the Role

As Principal Fire Engineer, you will take national responsibility for the delivery of fire engineering services across multiple projects and locations. You will:

• Lead the development offire strategiesfor complex and higher-risk buildings
• Provide expert technical assurance and act as the senior point of professional judgement
• Guide, mentor and support surveyors and junior fire engineers
• Oversee on-site inspections and ensure high-quality documentation and compliance
• Lead discussions with Building Control, Fire Authorities and regulatory bodies
• Manage national travel to multiple project locations as required

Essential Criteria (Non-Negotiable)

You must be able to demonstrate the following:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng)registered with theEngineering Council
• AccreditedFire Engineering (BEng/MEng)or related degree
• MIFireE (or higher)professional membership, or equivalent
• Minimum10 years post-graduatefire engineering experience
• Proven experience delivering strategies for complex, high-risk or multi-storey buildings
• Experience working nationally with regular site and client visits

Knowledge & Understanding

• Advanced fire engineering principles
• Expert understanding of UK fire legislation, Approved Documents, BS standards

Design, Development & Problem Solving

• Produce proportionate, compliant fire strategies
• Resolve issues related to means of escape, external walls, compartmentation, occupancy risk

Leadership & Responsibility

• Lead national fire engineering delivery
• Mentor and develop junior engineers
• Provide sound technical assurance and decision-making

Communication

• Explain complex technical matters clearly to clients, regulators and teams
• Lead regulatory discussions confidently
