As a Maintenance Engineer at our Braintree site, you’ll play a vital role in supporting automation systems and general site infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance through a mix of preventative and reactive maintenance.

?? The Role:

You’ll be part of a close-knit engineering team maintaining both equipment and facilities within a busy logistics environment. Daily duties will include:

• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and fast response to breakdowns
• PLC fault finding and working with sensors, metal detectors, conveyors, belts, motors, bearings
• Supporting site automation and mechanical handling systems
• Monitoring and reporting through the site CMMS system
• Liaising with and overseeing external contractors
• Adhering to and enforcing Permit to Work and health & safety protocols
• Contributing to team discussions and decision-making on efficiency improvements

??? What You’ll Need:

• Time-served apprenticeship and recognised electrical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.)

• Experience working in automated or distribution/warehouse environments preferred

• Competence in:

  • PLC fault finding
  • Conveyors, belts, and drive systems
  • Sensors and metal detectors
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, gearboxes, and bearings

• Basic mechanical skills (fitting, fault finding)

• Comfortable using IT systems and CMMS platforms

• Good spoken and written English

• Desirable: knowledge of refrigeration systems, food hygiene, and H&S practices
