Role: Application Support Engineer

We are recruiting for an Application Support Engineer to join a growing technology business based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and supporting bespoke software solutions and Linux-based infrastructure, while working closely with customers and developers to deliver high-quality support.
As an Application Support Engineer, you will:
Maintain and support bespoke software applications.
Manage and improve build and release processes.
Keep infrastructure patched, secure, and up to date.
Release and patch software in a timely and controlled manner.
Liaise directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Collaborate with developers and technical teams to find and implement solutions.
Travel across the UK when required.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for candidates with:
Strong Linux administration skills (RedHat / CentOS / Rocky) - essential.
Knowledge of Java - advantageous.
Experience with databases (MySQL / SQL Server).
Familiarity with VMware / Proxmox - beneficial.
Knowledge of automation and containerisation tools such as Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, SVN, Terraform - advantageous.
Scripting experience with Bash or Python - beneficial.
Excellent communication skills and confidence in customer-facing situations.
A proactive, well-organised, and team-oriented approach.
Full UK driving licence - desirable.
Eligibility to obtain UK Government Security Clearance (a pre-requisite for the role).
