American Express Cloud Engineering provides comprehensive platform that enables business critical applications to have faster Time-to-Market for American Express. The platform offers fast-paced rapid code-to-development models and services such as Platform-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, DB-as-a-Service, CICD Pipelines, etc. for application developers in a hybrid cloud environment. Amex Cloud Platform enables Application developers to write modern scalable cloud native applications.
How will you make an impact in this role?
As a Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering you will be part of the Platform Engineering Team of Cloud that build core Cloud capabilities to enable Application teams to build modern applications. The architecture includes PaaS/IaaS/CICD components in a Hybrid Cloud model and technologies that drive to build modern applications.
Responsible for leading an engineering team within the Cloud platform engineering team responsible for API engineering and driving the engineering efforts around the platform APIs.
Minimum Qualifications
Work with the engineering director and lead a scrum team of engineers working closely with the global engineering teams around building Cloud capabilities for American Express Developer in an Agile model.
Manage a local Scrum team in collaboration with global Engineering and product organization.
Work with the engineering director and collaborate with global Product, Engineering and Ops teams to build, prune, and execute the roadmap to the Organizational goals.
Develop and maintain a high Caliber team that can design and develop high quality products for American Express
Partner locally with local AET (American Express Technology) teams to guide and assist in design and develop modern application architectures.
Liaise effectively with the product teams and establish highly collaborative, productive, partnerships with stakeholders.
Keep up with the latest industry research and emerging technologies to ensure we are appropriately leveraging new techniques and capabilities.
Ensure product releases are high quality, deliver excellent user experiences, perform seamlessly at scale, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven engineering delivery experience working with global teams.
Understanding of Cloud native principles and microservices application architectures
Experience in building and architecting API driven platforms with good understanding of application development languages/platforms (Java, .NET, Go, Python, etc.)
Experience in building and architecting the UI planforms and solid experience with ReactJS, Angular and JavaScript.
Must have experience of Kubernetes, Openshift, infra as code frameworks, API Gateways, CNCF technologies, CI/CD tools, Cloud Native application architectures, and various public cloud services like AWS, GCP, Azure
Professional Certifications in Public Cloud and/or CNCF related technologies preferred.
Excellent understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) tools and processes (Example: Jenkins, Ansible, etc.)
Thorough understanding of Agile principles and processes
Passion and drive for quality of Software and Infrastructure products
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related science discipline or relevant experience
