We are seeking an exceptional, visionary Director of Data Science to lead our analytics and AI strategy, including the modelling and optimisation of community batteries and creation of virtual energy storage to enable shared, digital access. This leadership role will drive the technological innovation that underpins Allye Energy’s mission to revolutionize energy storage.
Responsibilities
Lead the overall data science strategy, setting the technological vision for Allye Energy’s energy banking platform
Develop and oversee the implementation and deployment of AI models for:
Energy demand and supply forecasting
Real-time grid optimization
Automated trading and financial performance maximization
Develop framework and modelling for virtual energy storage concept, including digital twins
Establish robust data governance, quality assurance, and model validation processes
Drive cross-functional collaboration between data science, engineering, product, and business teams
Mentor and develop a high-performing data science team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
Represent Allye Energy at industry conferences and contribute to thought leadership in energy technology
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
8 years of data science experience, with 4 years in leadership roles
Proven track record of developing and deploying complex predictive models in energy, financial trading, or related complex systems
Required Technical Expertise
Time series machine learning techniques
Algorithmic trading or energy arbitrage modelling
Cloud computing platforms
Preferred Technical Expertise
Mixed integer linear programming
Large-scale distributed system design
Edge computing and IoT integration strategies
Strategic Leadership Requirements
Proven ability to align technical strategy with business objectives
Experience in building and leading high-performing data science teams
Track record of driving technological innovation
Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Experience
Background in energy storage, electric vehicle technology, or smart grid systems
Experience with renewable energy trading platforms
Publications or patents in machine learning and energy optimization
Active involvement in academic or industry research networks
Ability to secure funding and support for transformative data science initiatives
