Key Responsibilities:

Leverage knowledge and understanding of rail related risks and constraints to facilitate solutions that align with the external client objectives whilst meeting all stakeholder requirements. To provide guidance to the external client team to support adherence to relevant rail industry standards and processes.

Your Core duties will involve:
• Develop and deliver solutions for externally funded, high value, politically sensitive and multi-disciplinary projects (Levels of Control 2, 3 & 4) and where mandated, assure delivery in accordance with the GRIP lifecycle. Manage the seamless integration of all project risks affecting the operational railway.
• Engage with and manage the interface with internal stakeholders to enable compliance with governance and assurance processes. Facilitate compliance against the Railways Act and Network Licence and oversee the completion of deliverables.

  • Provide Engineering support for our NPI projects, including:
    o Host cross functional sessions.
    o Facilitate APQP activities such as risk assessment, failure mode and effects analysis.
    o (FMEA), and control plan development to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks.
    o Create and maintain quality plans, part structures for operational flow and technical manufacturing instructions, ensuring conformance to customer specifications and internal standards.
    o Support capability studies and lead root cause investigations of manufacturing issues.
    o Documenting lessons learnt.
  • Technical ownership of development, pre serial and serial production product.
    o Including disposition of product deviations.
  • Creation and flow down of technical instructions, including to sub contract operations, to fulfil customer requirements.

Are you a precision-driven engineer who speaks the language of both the design office and the shop floor?
We are looking for a Project Engineerfor a leading UK sheet metal manufacturer specializing in Defence, Automotive and rail sectors.

  • Technical Interpretation: Reviewing customer 2D/3D CAD drawings and nesting parts for optimal material yield.
  • Data Input: create Route cards in our ERP system (MIEtrak), producing WOs and work packs for production.
  • DFM (Design for Manufacture): Collaborating with clients to refine designs, reducing costs and manufacturing complexity where possible.
  • Project Management: Managing timelines, material procurement, and sub-contract treatments (e.g., powder coating, plating).
  • Estimating & Costing: Producing POs and procuring materials and fixings from approved suppliers.
  • Tooling & Programming: Generating programs for CNC machinery (Laser/ Press Brake) using Radan, SolidWorks. (Sigma/Amada will also be beneficial)
