Overview
We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery, deployment, and ongoing technical operations of enterprise clinical software solutions across on‑premise, cloud, and hosted environments.
This role sits within a technical delivery and operations function and is ideal for someone with a strong Windows infrastructure and automation background, who enjoys hands‑on problem solving, software delivery, and supporting complex customer environments. While there is some exposure to DevOps and Azure tooling, this is not a DevOps role.
You’ll work closely with project teams, service teams, and customers to deploy software, automate processes, resolve escalated technical issues, and improve platform reliability.
Key Responsibilities for the Infrastructure Engineer
* Deploy, configure, and automate software solutions across on‑premise, hosted, and cloud environments
* Build and maintain deployment automation using PowerShell, YAML, and Azure DevOps pipelines
* Deliver customer IT implementation work, including infrastructure setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
* Diagnose and resolve issues across Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualisation, networking, storage, and security
* Provide escalated (3rd line) technical support for customer incidents and internal teams
* Support endpoint platforms and endpoint security tooling in customer and internal environments
* Produce and maintain high‑quality technical documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, diagrams, DR plans, and runbooks
* Work within ITIL‑aligned processes, collaborating with project managers, pre‑sales, and service teams
* Participate in remote on‑call and out‑of‑hours support on a rota basis, with occasional travel where required
* Contribute to continuous improvement, internal tooling, documentation standards, and knowledge sharing
* Assist with client and internal technical training where appropriate
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong hands‑on experience with windows infrastructure engineering
* Advanced PowerShell scripting experience, including automation and deployment tasks
* Experience using YAML, particularly for deployment or pipeline configuration
* Proven background in software deployment, delivery, or packaging
* Solid experience with virtualisation (VMware and/or Hyper‑V)
* Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, and core networking concepts
* Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues
* Exposure to endpoint management and endpoint security platforms
* Some knowledge of SQL scripting (e.g. queries, troubleshooting, configuration support)
* Experience operating within ITIL or service‑oriented environments
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
* Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
* OK with 2 sundays per month remote on- call
Desirable Skills
* Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD concepts, or automation pipelines
* Some experience with Linux environments
* Experience supporting MSSQL, Oracle RAC, or Data Guard
Education & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent commercial experience
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an infrastructure, systems, or technical engineering role
* Relevant Microsoft qualifications (or working toward them)
Why this role?
Hands‑on technical role with real ownership and variety, exposure to automation, Azure, and modern tooling without being a pure DevOps role.
Opportunity to work on mission‑critical customer systems and a good balance between delivery, operations, and continuous improvement. Great team environment and regular training and upskilling
