As a Senior Design Engineer, you will oversee complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure high-quality designs meet customer specifications and industry standards. Some hybrid working is possible, though you will need to be close to the business during the initial stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadthedesignofsubseatechnologycombiningfunctionssuchasbreathinggases,fluids,electricalpower,communication,hydraulics,andpneumatics,forseismic,defence,subseatechnology(e.g.,Diving)
  • Selectandsizefunctionalcomponents(hoses,cables,opticalfibres),anddeterminelay-up,insulationandjacketmaterials,braiding,armouring,andoverallconfigurationtomeetcustomerspecifications,industrystandards,andin-houserequirements.
  • Writetestspecificationsandqualificationproceduresforthesubseascenariossuchastension,torsion,compression,andcyclicbending,whenrequired.
  • Providetechnicalsupporttoproductionteamsduringmanufacturingtoensurequalityandconformitytodesign.
  • Investigateandresolvecable-relatedfieldfailuresorperformanceissues,implementingrobustdesignimprovements.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelors or higher degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics, or similar

Experienced senior engineering designer using 2D CAD or 3DCAD / and /or solidworks

Strong understanding of subsea technology, including seismic energy, renewable, and marine/diving applications in high-pressure environments.

Sound knowledge of electrical theory (voltage stress, resistance, voltage drop, current rating, and heating effects), hydraulics/pneumatics (pressure drop, fluid mechanics), and mechanical engineering (materials, stress/strain, fatigue).

Understanding of electrical cable design and construction, including cable geometry, helix angles, lay-lengths, and copper specifications.

Proficient in 2D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD); proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) advantageous.

Preferred: Exposure to ISO 9001 quality systems and experience in corrective action resolution.

Experience with engineering documentation control systems (SolidWorks EPDM advantageous).

  • Install spare parts and carry out warranty repairs to OEM standards
  • Stage and configure devices with predefined builds
  • Manage and update service tickets accurately

  • Escalate potential SLA risks to supervisors
