This role would probably suit an engineer with 3-5 years of industry experience or more.

The role will involve full lifecycle (V model) systems engineering activities including the capture and development of customer requirements into functional requirements and specifications, systems integration activities and the development of test and validation requirements in conjunction with development and test teams.

You will be working to develop subsystems and new product features for off-highway vehicles / machinery.

Key experience required:

Duties:

* Design, improve, and manage manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency and product quality in high density burn in rooms

* Optimize liquid cooled production lines, troubleshooting equipment failures, implementing quality control standards, and designing new manufacturing systems and workstations.

* Control costs for liquid production facilities.

* Interpret sensor log data and analyse presenting into human readable formats but also according to various customer’s specifications using engineering principles.

* Operate and configure building management systems as pertains to thermal management systems

* Present test reports to customers and accept customer feedback

* Perform temperature measurements using thermocouples and IoT sensors.

* Collect data logs from test tools in Linux or Windows

* Observe and report unexpected results or possible areas of opportunity

* Regularly inspect measurement tools and repair or replace as required

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Thermal Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with strong emphasis on thermal engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience with CDUs of all types including Liquid to Liquid, Liquid to Air, and Liquid to Refrigerant.

Experience designing facility cooling plumbing systems (either chilled water or glycol based)

Must have built, tested and refined project designs.

Strong working knowledge of CFD and CAD software.

Experience with thermocouples, IR cameras, airflow sensors, and power measurement.

Experience working within a manufacturing environment.

Experience building personal computers or servers.

Experience with environmental chambers.

Fluency in Linux command line operation

Ability to examine customer requirements documents and build appropriate test plans for manufacturing team.

Possesses background knowledge of thermal measurement sciences.

Familiarity of test instruments such as data loggers, volt meters, and power supplies

Proficiency in building thermal models preferably in Ansys CFD products.

Works well as a team member but also independently.

Pays close attention to detail.

Communicates clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to people without an engineering background.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the following: · Specifying power electronics systems or subsystems to enable the resulting hardware to be designed and validated as complying with requirements. · Architecting and designing the hardware using modern development practices (including AI-assisted workflows where relevant) and company standard tools and processes to meet the requirements, including those related to electrical and thermal performance, EMC, safety and other aspects needing compliance. · Implementing the schematic design and PCB layout. · Ensuring that the design is manufacturable and meets the cost model for the system. · Generating and verifying rapid prototypes to prove new concepts prior to committing to a full design. · Thermal and electrical simulation of the key aspects of the design and confirming that it fits within the envelope of the overall system. · Consideration for the mechanical aspects of the design and ensuring that it fits within the form-factor and meets the thermal requirements. · Overseeing the prototype manufacturing process to ensure that third party partner production queries are quickly answered. · Ensuring EMC and safety certification/compliance for the product, including the coordination of third party test houses where required. Specific Technical Skills · PCB design tool experience including Altium. · Power electronics modeling and simulation (electrical, magnetic, thermal and mechanical) using tools such as Dassault Systemes CST, Plexim PLECS and the Ansys suite. · Mechanical design and 3D modeling experience (or knowledge) an advantage. · Contributing to the generation of patent applications in support of protecting the company’s IP. · Strong knowledge of the applicability, setup and operation of lab test equipment for the debug and validation of hardware, both in the power electronics and digital domains.
