As an Lift Engineer Apprentice, you’ll work within a supportive team, combining hands-on experience with classroom-based learning to achieve an NVQ Level 3 qualification-essential for a career as a Lift and Escalator Engineer.

Once qualified as a New Equipment Lift Engineer, you’ll install brand-new equipment and manage the installation process from start to finish. You’ll work on construction sites throughout the year, moving between locations as projects progress.

We’re seeking aspiring engineers with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for teamwork. You should have:

What Are We Looking For?

RSE is recruiting Control System Engineers across our business to join us in delivering solutions to the Water industry, based out of our Basingstoke office. You ll be in involved in the development, commissioning and support of automation and control systems solutions as well as automation and control systems design, specification, programming, simulation, testing and start-up assistance.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:

Be responsible for the appropriate planning and carrying out of intrusive surveys on live control systems. You will identify and manage the risks associated with these surveys.
Detailed design proposals that establish the scope of work required for new build and ICA refurbishment projects.
Define the control system hardware and software requirements.
Assist the electrical engineers with the development of robust Control Systems Architectures utilising appropriate technology in accordance with Client, WIMES and industrial standards.
Provide specialist ICA assistance to the Engineer during the development of the Control Philosophy.
Define the project Software Testing strategy and ensure appropriate time and resources are allocated.
Be responsible for identifying the programme requirements to deliver Control System elements to achieve the project milestone dates.
Develop detailed Functional Design Specifications and associated schedules from the agreed Control Philosophy in accordance with the Company s Quality procedures.
Implementation of robust change control during the entire project lifecycle.
Develop the Factory Acceptance Test Documentation
Fully document, resolve and re-test any defects identified during testing.
Provide specialist control system assistance to the Commissioning Teams within the workshop and on site in conjunction with the RSE PM
Carry out Site Acceptance Testing of the Control System against the SAT document.

What Do You Need?

HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with particular emphasis in electrical, mechanical, electronic, or automation.
Have proven ability in the design and commissioning of control and electrical systems associated with process automation, preferably in the Hydro power and Water sector.
Detailed experience in the development of Control Systems solutions using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC s) and HMI/SCADA and Telemetry Systems in the process control environment using one or more of the following manufacturers: Allen Bradley/ Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi
Experienced working knowledge of Profibus, ProfNet, Ethernet. Modbus and DH+ systems
Experienced in integration and modification into existing systems PLC control systems in a live environment.
Have a strong working knowledge of process systems, P&ID control and loop tuning

Job Description – Production Engineer

We specialise in placing components on bare printed circuit boards (PCBs) both manually and by machine. This is followed by programming, testing, assembly into enclosures, packaging and despatch.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and issue clear, detailed work procedures and instructions.
Review client PCB designs, including Gerber and SMT pick-and-place files, and translate them into accurate production guidelines.
Design and build simple test jigs for production and assemble wiring harnesses for programming devices.
Diagnose and resolve production issues promptly and effectively.
Collaborate with product designers as necessary to ensure product quality and functionality.
Monitor equipment performance, addressing or escalating faults or substandard conditions without delay.
Identify and troubleshoot faults in failed devices to support continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

Proven experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer within machinery manufacturing, automation, or special-purpose equipment
Strong experience producing electrical schematics, control panel designs, and BOMs
Confident use of electrical CAD tools, particularly AutoCAD
Good understanding of industrial electrical standards and machine safety requirements
Able to manage multiple projects within a busy manufacturing environment

JOB DESCRIPTION: Electronic Design Engineer - Embedded Firmware, R&D, ‘C’, Test and Measurement Instrumentation

As our Electronic Design Engineer working in our R&D department, you will be designing and developing electronic circuitry and firmware for portable and hand held electrical equipment. You will be redesigning existing products for annual product launches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Electronic Design Engineer - Embedded Firmware, R&D, ‘C’, Test and Measurement Instrumentation

· Product design of electronic circuitry and firmware for portable electrical equipment.
· Maintenance of existing product line, e.g. due to component obsolescence, changes in standards, etc

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Electronic Design Engineer - Embedded Firmware, R&D, ‘C’, Test and Measurement Instrumentation

Ideally, you will have a proven track record of Product Design - Electronic, Electrical equipment. This could (for instance) be test and measurement equipment (medical, industrial, commercial etc.), domestic goods, personal electronics amongst many other things.

· Programming of real time, embedded firmware.
· Proficiency in C
· Analogue & digital electronic design.
· Schematic capture using Altium or similar.
· Experience of high voltage technology designs
· Designing products to a set of legal / safety standards.

Any exposure to ST MCU (Micro Controller Unit) design would be an advantage.

What Can You Expect?

At OTIS, we offer one of the most comprehensive apprenticeship schemes in the lift industry.

As an Engineer Apprentice, you’ll work within a supportive team, combining hands-on experience with classroom-based learning to achieve an NVQ Level 3 qualification-essential for a career as a Lift and Escalator Engineer.

Your training will be fully supported by OTIS and our trusted apprenticeship provider.

Once qualified as a Service Lift Engineer, you’ll manage a regular route, performing routine service visits and repairs. You’ll diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and keep customers informed about the status of their equipment.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re seeking aspiring engineers with strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a proactive mindset. You should demonstrate:

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/Grade 4 or above, including Maths, English, and a STEM subject
A willingness to attend and complete all required training throughout the apprenticeship
You will require your own laptop
