Qualifications:

  • Holding a NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Fire Safety Qualification is a requirement for this role.

About you

Minimum of 15years of managing heavy civil engineering projects in the UK and /or overseas, preferably within a Tier 1 contractor environment.
Management of safe systems of works and quality management.
Excellent IT knowledge including use of AUTOCAD and Microsoft suite.
Degree/HNC, or equivalent, in civil engineering desirable.
Member of a professional institution, MCIOB, ICE or similar.
Good communication skills with client representatives, site team and operatives

About the Role:

You will be the Quality Engineer with experience of working within an environment that assembles special purpose high value machinery in a growing company.

You will be responsible for supporting the Production Function, working closely with the Assembly, Quality, Design, Supply Chain, and Machine Shop departments ensuring that products and processes meet defined quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities:

Developing, implementing, and improving quality standards and procedures.

Create, review, and approve production documentation and control plans.

Change agent providing support to production for development of new products to be released, collaborating closely with Assembly, Machine Shop, Design, Supply Chain and Quality Departments.

Drive efficiency and cost reduction to maintain productivity through projects with a continuous improvement mindset.

Act as the focal point of knowledge for the production process, supporting the operators, enhancing their knowledge of the process and parts, leading, and driving structured problem solving and process improvement activities.

Coordinating cross functional team activities to optimise cost performance, operating standards and minimising waste through the development of continuous improvement culture encompassing lean principles.

Provide design for manufacture input at early stages in the project development process, coordinating with and supporting implementation of engineering changes to design and developing effective processes to ensure manufacturability of product while maintaining quality, safety and environmental standards and cost targets.

Supporting project management in cross-functional activity required for project execution.

Conduct internal audits and support external / customer audits.

Provide APQP experience & knowledge of quality systems.

Quality approval of engineering change processes.

PFMEA / Problem solving skills.

NPI guidance and development

Attend project and design review meetings, providing guidance and support for the efficient operation of the machine design, manufacture, assembly and install.

Continuous Improvement responsible for driving improvements utilising your engineering expertise and experience to provide counsel, self-start actions, deliver the business case for improvement.

Process Governance and implementation.

Workflow Governance and implementation.

Process and Engineering specialist, providing counsel and support to all relevant stakeholders.

Align manufacturing facilities to understand and share best practice to support standardisation.

Maintain documentation and quality records.

Develop KPIs and present quality metrics to management.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing quality engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Experience with FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP (where applicable).
  • Understanding of Lean / Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration ability.
