About the team you’ll be working in

? Start and finish times to be agreed with local Line Management, in accordance with local site core hours.

Job Overview
The Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible for providing technical authority and ownership for all rotating equipment, ensuring compliance with the company’s Philosophy, UK safety, environmental, and quality systems, along with statutory legislation and API/ISO standards. The role is focused on reviewing and enhancing maintenance strategies and working practices to increase the reliability and availability of critical assets such as gas turbines, compressors, pumps, and power generation packages. The engineer manages specialist maintenance activities, including budget oversight, planning, and execution of overhauls and long-term service agreements. This position plays a crucial role in implementing condition monitoring advancements and technological upgrades to improve facility safety, production performance, and asset integrity.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Ensure strict adherence to the company’s Philosophy, UK Safety, Environmental & Quality systems, and statutory legislation, alongside relevant industry standards (API, ISO) and Codes of Practice throughout all rotating equipment maintenance activities.
• Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for key rotating equipment, leveraging in-depth knowledge of vibration analysis, performance monitoring, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to resolve complex operational issues.
• Act as the Job Responsible Engineer (JRE) for specialist rotating equipment vendors and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) during onsite campaigns.
• Manage and execute category 1& 2 modifications specific to rotating equipment, including control system upgrades, re-rates, and component enhancements.
• Manage rotating equipment maintenance operations, including opex/capex budget oversight, planning, and execution, with a strong emphasis on managing OEM service agreements, overhaul campaigns, and specialist contractor support.
• Support the execution of the Asset Preventive Master Plan, driving enhancements in rotating equipment reliability and performance through the strategic implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance.
• Act as the stand-in delegate for the mechanical and rotating lead, ensuring continuity in operations as needed.
• Serve as the technical contract owner for key rotating equipment contracts overseeing performance, quality, and budget compliance.
• Support the development, maintenance, and optimisation of rotating equipment strategies, including condition monitoring, lubrication analysis, maintenance routines, and preservation.
• Conduct CMMS technical evaluations and support the Change Request and Deferral processes for rotating equipment.
• Collaborate with asset operations teams, providing specialist rotating equipment assistance and contributing to change management processes to drive continuous improvement.
• Support the lead discipline engineer in preparing and managing the disciplines opex and capex budgets, providing detailed forecasts for overhauls, major repairs, and upgrades.
• Optimise maintenance master plan activities, ensuring the availability of critical rotating equipment spares such as rotors, dry gas seals, bearings, and essential overhaul kits to minimise downtime.
• Maintain comprehensive maintenance records and CMMS data, including overhaul reports, vibration data, and performance trends, to facilitate effective decision-making and compliance.
• Support the shutdown team throughout the Planned Maintenance Shutdown (PMSD) process, from scope identification (e.g., major overhauls, blade inspections) through to execution and start-up.
• Proactively manage equipment lifecycle, leading reliability improvement initiatives by identifying and eliminating bad actors. Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on equipment failures and implement robust corrective actions
Drive the evaluation and implementation of technological innovations, such as advanced condition monitoring systems, predictive analytics, and equipment upgrades to enhance facility safety, production performance, and reliability.
• Create quality plans & lead the identification and implementation of suitable quality controls for rotating equipment jobs.
• Arrange and track to completion quality activities such as audits, inspections of vendor facilities, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Engage with key rotating equipment OEMs and service providers to ensure their quality management systems meet the companys requirements, particularly for overhauls, repairs, and spare parts manufacturing.
Professional Skills and Experience
• Extensive experience in offshore maintenance and operations
• Strong understanding of Oil & Gas industry
• Good working knowledge of regulations in the Oil & Gas industry
• Competent in the use of CMMS
• Experience in WEP (Work Execution Process)
Qualifications and Certifications
• Degree in related technical area is required or significant technical experience.
Other Requirements
• Awareness and competence in Quality Assurance and Quality Control preferred.
• The role may require travelling offshore for certain business requirements.
