We’re seeking a talented Geospatial Data Scientist to join our ANALYTIQ team. In this role, you’ll work across all our platform areas, leveraging your skills to create first-rate analytical models that address a myriad of topics. Responsibilities:
Develop and run geospatial analytical workflows to support impact measurement for nature-based solution projects
Create bespoke geospatial optimisation models and insight tools to accelerate and scale system change for clients
Build out and manage ANALYTIQ’s internal geospatial datasets and suite of tools that enable accelerated impact to our SYSTEMIQ project teams
Work as part of a development and project team to deliver analytical insights to SYSTEMIQ’s impact partners
Liaise with SYSTEMIQ’s platforms on energy, materials, nature, finance and cities to design and build new geospatial insights and tools
Work with SYSTEMIQ’s partners and wider sustainability analytics community to stay up to date with the latest methods to bring to projects
Skills / Experience:
Required
Strong quantitative/analytical background, owning a master’s degree or higher in computer science, earth science, geography, remote sensing, engineering, environmental management, maths, physics or equivalent area
Recent graduate or up to 2-4 years of work experience
A strong track record of working with geospatial vector and raster data, conducting GIS assessments, and conducting remote sensing analysis.
Experience working with various GIS software applications such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, etc.
Experience working with complex geospatial data pipelines, working with PostGIS and other tool to be able to efficiently deploy geospatial data layers
Familiarity with Python programme and working with relevant Python packages (geoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL, xarray, etc)
Understanding of open source and proprietary datasets
A keen willingness to learn a broader set of skills to deliver impact
Beneficial additional skills
Experience with data visualization software such as Dash, PowerBI, and/or Tableau
Experience and interest in delivering geospatial applications with accompanying skills (Dash, HTML/CCS, Django/JS/HTMX)
Experience with Geoserver or other tile server applications
Knowledge of carbon and nature accounting methodologies and methodologies to measure and value impact on nature
