  • Support Production Change Control in checking and processing of design Engineering drawing release and updates

  • Identify manufacturing needs for new products in development
  • Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard operating procedures & work instructions
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by way of removing waste from the processes
  • Investigate production and process issues providing technical support
  • Undertake special projects as required
  • Creation of the production BOM model in Solid works and execution of virtual build reviews with stakeholders to refine build sequence
  • Use the EPDM system to store and issue drawings
  • Implement production performance metrics to allow analysis for identifying continuous improvement opportunities and training and development opportunities
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers & suppliers providing Technical support where necessary

Qualifications and requirements for the Production & Process Engineer:

  • 3D Cad skills preferably with SolidWorks, although adaptation training will be given if necessary
  • Proven capability of creating detailed 3d models and accurate engineering drawings of components and assemblies
  • Minimum of HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related discipline

To be considered for the role you require experience in a mixture of the following: -

  • You will be either degree educated or have a proven engineering background with a strong bias toward mechanical engineering.
  • You will be able to demonstrate ability in product development from initial prototype to mass production.
  • Experience of sheet metal manufacture experience and knowledge of sheet metal processes is required.
  • Experience of generating Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis reports (DFMEA Reports) and implementing the actions identified is required.
  • Experience of tolerance build up analysis and resolving areas of concern.
  • Proven experience of working with Solid Edge (consideration will be given to individuals who have worked with SolidWorks).
  • Ability to generate 2D production drawings according to GD&T best practise.
  • Demonstrated ability in design for manufacture considerations.
  • Folding simulation software experience whilst NOT essential, would be an advantage.

Wise Employment are looking for a Production Engineer to join a rapidly growing company based in Exeter! Where you will be working Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30 and Fridays 07:30 – 14:00

The role

  • Reporting directly to the management team, you will take a key role in the design and delivery of infrastructure solutions, including highways, drainage and sustainable systems.
  • You will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from concept design through to technical delivery and construction phase, working closely with clients, local authorities, the wider design team and internal teams.
  • Delivering design solutions using AutoCAD 2D/3D and Site 3D software.

  • Translation of Customer requirements into measureable engineering terms and then liaising between our Design Engineers, Project Managers and the international customers directly.   • Concept design, checking and sign off of drawings for manufacture and consistent liaison with project management team.

Skills Required:

  • 3D CAD skills, ideally using Solidworks, and ideally in the automotive sector (although not essential).
  • Knowledge of drawing standards, geometrical tolerancing and ideally welding specifications.
  • Some experience in a Project Engineers or Applications Engineers role would be ideal, or the desire to move from a Design role into just such a position is a must.
  • Good report writing and project information recording experience.
  • An Engineering Degree essential.
