The Role

We are building a team of Software Engineers for a consultancy supporting a company in Portsmouth.

Candidates will need active Security Clearance and to be a Sole British National

Roles will be offered outside IR35 on an initial 6-12 month contract. Anticipated that it will be a hybrid working pattern (minimum 3 days onsite)

Rates negotiable, circa £60-£70 ph Outside IR35.

The Tasks:

• Development of Software Design and UML Model for assigned tasks (candidate tasks below).
• Verification and Integration Testing of developed software
• Support to Test Events and Demonstrations

Candidate development tasks may include:
• Development of requirements, algorithms and implementation of autonomous UAV functions (e.g flight plans, low level flight)
• Integration Machine Learning models into existing UAV C2 system
• Integration of a UAV model into existing synthetic environment
• Bug fixes following verification and integration testing

Experience/Skills Required
• Experience developing SW for autonomous applications
• Experience integrating and developing Machine Learning models
• UI Design
• Algorithm development
• Requirements management in Enterprise Architect / DOORS / JIRA
• Model Based Sys Eng and SW Modelling in Enterprise Architect
• Source code management in GitLab
• Primarily C++, optionally C# (Visual Studio) & Python
• Mixture of OS environments (Real-time e.g. WindRiver, Green Hills, LynxOS, Linux, Windows)

Join the South s leading independent Fire & Security Systems company specialising in industrial and commercial sectors, delivering expert service and technical excellence. They are looking for a skilled, multi-disciplined Fire & Security Engineer to join our team. You ll install, service, and commission a wide range of systems, including fire alarms (conventional & addressable), intruder alarms, CCTV (IP & analogue), access control systems and emergency lighting. You ll also diagnose and resolve faults, carry out small works and alterations, support clients with professional advice. The role involves travel across Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey & Dorset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and commission Fire, Intruder, CCTV, Access Control, and Emergency Lighting systems
  • Interpret system designs and liaise with other building service providers
  • Ensure compliance with BS5839, PD6662:2017, BS5266 and other relevant standards
  • Maximise first-time fix rates and meet project deadlines
  • Provide expert advice and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Maintain company vehicle with spares, consumables, and tools
  • Support continuous improvement of service delivery and company reputation

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in fire & security systems installation, servicing, and commissioning
  • Strong technical knowledge of Fire & Life Safety systems and relevant British/European standards
  • Experience with Intruder, CCTV, Access Control, and Fire Alarm systems (conventional & addressable)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Security vetting (BS7858)
  • ECS/CSCS card

The Role

  • Planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC plant and associated systems
  • Servicing, fault finding, and repairs on AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors, heating and cooling systems
  • Supporting compliance and statutory maintenance across the site
  • Use of an on-site pool vehicle when required
