Overview

A leading data centre operator is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its high-performing team in LondonThis is a critical role supporting the delivery of robust, compliant and highly efficient electrical operations within a mission-critical environment.

You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and enhancement of complex electrical power systems that support 24/7 digital infrastructure. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong technical expertise in HV/LV systems, UPS technologies, standby power and electrical resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and optimise HV/LV electrical distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, protection systems and distribution panels.

  • Support the testing and operation of diesel generators, fuel systems and automatic transfer controls.
  • Carry out electrical maintenance, inspections, testing and compliance tasks in line with regulations and internal standards.

  • Monitor electrical loads, redundancy, capacity and efficiency to ensure optimal performance.
  • Contribute technical expertise to electrical upgrade works, retrofit projects, switchgear replacements and capacity expansion plans.
  • Work closely with contractors and suppliers, ensuring safe systems of work (permit-to-work, isolations, RAMS).
  • Maintain accurate electrical documentation including single-line diagrams, maintenance records and compliance reports.

Our team is leading in this growing area of the water industry, with recent projects including being a leading design consultant for Severn Trents £76m Mansfield Strategic Flood Resilience Project the largest Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) retrofit project in the UK; drafting Severn Trents Retrofit SuDS Design Manuals as well as authoring the draft National Standards for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), published in England by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Heres what youll do:

  • Deliver: Lead and support the design of SuDS interventions/solutions for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. Be involved in all design stages, such as feasibility studies (including financial and non-financial comparisons), outline designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports, technical specifications and drainage impact assessments.

Expertise: Undertake hydraulic modelling, runoff calculations and attenuation/storage design to meet current standards and provide technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies. Contribute to the preparation of contract documents for construction phase of SuDS interventions/solutions.
Lead: Liaise with clients, local authorities, planning officers and regulators to secure approvals for SuDS schemes. Support site teams with the implementation of designed solutions and provide technical input during construction.
Quality: Promote innovation and sustainable practices within drainage, wastewater and water infrastructure. Contribute to design reviews, ensuring compliance with CIRIA SuDS Manual and local guidance and legislation.

Job Purpose
To oversee and manage all operational deliveries across all national locations, to manage all site /supervisors across all work streams within social housing sector, Retrofit, Energy Efficiency, Renewable energy term contracts. Also to manage whole house retrofit contracts in line with PAS2030/2035. To manage delivery of all services and high levels of commercial control and customer/client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Senior Site Managers/Site Managers to ensure contract compliance across all work streams and business activities.
  • Train, develop, and guide senior site managers, site managers & junior project managers.
  • Build and maintain a first-class customer experience across all engagements.
  • Support department managers and direct reports.
  • Continuously improve and apply CCS business/quality processes in service delivery.
  • Manage end-to-end processes for works, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience at a management level, ideally as a contract manager.
  • Proven track record managing contracts with turnover exceeding £3M.
  • Strong commercial management skills, including forecasting and PNL analysis.
  • Formal qualifications in operational management, with technical training in CCS disciplines (Gas, Electrical, Retrofit).
  • Experience managing installation, maintenance, and project work streams.
  • Knowledge of accounting, NHF/SORs, and process management in the social housing sector.
  • Proven expertise in customer service.
  • IT proficiency with management systems, KPIs, WIP, and service innovation.
  • Understanding of JCT, MTC, NEC, and partnership contracts.
  • Compliance and process management knowledge in social housing

The Role
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead the electrical design and delivery of projects ranging from smaller specialist schemes through to major developments valued at £100m+.
You will work closely with clients, manage multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the electrical design and delivery of projects across healthcare, education, commercial and public sector developments
  • Acting as a client-facing technical lead, managing both commercial and technical discussions
