This is a senior technical leadership role suited to someone with 8+ years’ experience, strong architectural instincts, and a proven ability to deliver high-impact solutions in complex environments.You’ll be operating at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and delivery-guiding teams, influencing design decisions, and ensuring that platforms evolve toward a modern, scalable, cloud-native target state.Role OverviewAs a Principal Engineer, you will:

Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, high-value features and services, ensuring they meet the highest performance, security, and reliability standards.

Shape architectural direction, driving best practices in system design, standardisation, and long-term technical evolution.

Mentor senior engineers, uplift engineering capability, and champion a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Translate business objectives into robust technical solutions, ensuring clarity, alignment, and challenge where needed.

Deliver consistently within a well-defined SDLC, promoting planning discipline, structured estimation, and quality-focused delivery.

Drive innovation through research, experimentation, and adoption of emerging technologies that support future platform growth.

This role offers significant technical influence, the opportunity to work on business-critical systems, and the ability to shape engineering strategy at an organisational level.Key Responsibilities

Define and communicate engineering standards and architectural principles across teams.

Lead architectural discussions, ensuring decisions align with long-term technical and business strategy.

Support teams in delivering high-quality, reusable services and components that scale across multiple projects.

Guide prioritisation and decomposition of work, ensuring delivery efficiency without compromising quality.

Champion test automation, measurement, and observability to support continuous improvement.

Promote high-quality documentation and clear communication across engineering and product teams.

Experience & Technical SkillsFrontend Development

Advanced proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

Deep experience with the React ecosystem (React, Redux, React Query, GraphQL).

Strong understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and frameworks such as Tailwind.

Skilled in API integration and Git-based workflows.

Backend Development

Expert experience in TypeScript across backend services.

Strong command of SQL and API development (REST & GraphQL).

Experience with microservices, containerised systems, and event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, SOLACE, AMQP).

Comfortable with Linux shell scripting and Windows PowerShell.

Cloud & DevOps

Hands-on experience with AWS services and command-line tooling.

Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

Commitment to high coverage test suites (unit, integration, E2E).

Tooling & Collaboration

Experience with JIRA or similar Agile delivery tools.

Strong understanding of automated testing and modern CI practices.
