The successful candidate will plan, implement, test, document, and maintain customer wide solutions for either total system or subsystems, whilst providing technical support to a wide range of complex issues, providing solutions which are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives. These will be provided by an understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts along with a general knowledge of other related disciplines.The ILE Engineer will be required to communicate verbally, through E-mail and provide presentations to the team and management. Provide support in carrying out all routine technical tasks, including system set-up, equipment upgrades, system backups, asset management and installations in support of projects

Provide technical support to all Lab users including fault finding and rectification

Support opportunities which increase the teams scope of work with the customer

Provide backup support to members of the ILE Team

Provide client sight service, repair and/or installation support of existing hardware, software, network configurations and new system initiatives for all sites within area of responsibility.

Provide roaming site support services as well as assisting in the development and ensuring adherence to area-wide procedural/policy changes.

Carry out specialist technical and/or engineering activities in a professional manner in support of project and company objectives

Carry out complex network engineering assignments requiring familiarity and expertise with a broad field of engineering and technical knowledge

Work closely with a team of professional engineers in achieving assigned project objectives and be responsible for technical, cost and schedule performance

Create, participate in and may take responsibility for project planning and estimating, status monitoring and reporting

Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways

Ensure a wide understanding of Air Traffic Control Systems and their key components.

Ensure an understanding of How Air Traffic Control works.

The Lightning Systems Integration Facility (LSIF) is established at the Maritime Integration & Support Centre (MISC) on Portsdown Hill, Portsmouth, to support testing and integration of the F35 Lightning II Aircraft within the UK military infrastructure.A UKLTI Facility Engineer is required to implement and maintain the LSIF design in the MISC environment.

The UKLTI Facility Engineer will commission LSIF networks between allocated rooms (server room and testing/event rooms).

The role will involve both implementation of changes to the facility and maintenance of the established infrastructure. In particular, the role will be required to perform some reconfiguration of the Facility in line with testing event requirements.

A major function of the role is the maintenance of government furnished computer equipment (including large servers). As part of this, the liaison and effective communication between suppliers, owners, partners and users is crucial in ensuring the equipment is available to the right groups at the right time.

The incumbent of this role will require good organisational and communication skills on top of technical ability. The incumbent will be trained on how to use the system and will be expected to become an expert in using and administering it.
