About the Role

The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and optimising scalable, cloud-native environments that support Victim Support’s critical technology services, including the containerised WitnessBox application.

In this hands-on role, you will work with AWS and Kubernetes to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure. You will be responsible for building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, developing Infrastructure as Code, and improving automation across build and deployment processes.

You will support high availability services that people rely on every day, ensuring systems are resilient, compliant, and aligned with security best practices. Working closely with development, product, service delivery, and security teams, you will help deliver integrated, high-quality solutions and drive continuous improvement across the technology landscape.

About You

You will bring solid experience working with AWS and a strong background in building and optimising CI/CD pipelines. You’ll have a good understanding of cloud security principles and a proactive approach to improving reliability, automation, and scalability.

Experience with Kubernetes and containerised applications is important, alongside familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools is also desirable.

You will be a strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders. A collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.

Your new role
The organisation operates across both Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. However, this temporary role is specifically focused on Azure networking delivery, automation and knowledge transfer.
The engineer will work with existing engineers and architects to deploy secure, repeatable Azure networking resources using Terraform, replacing manual portal configuration with version-controlled Infrastructure as Code wherever appropriate.

  • Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure networking experience.
  • Terraform experience for Azure resource deployment, including module design and state-aware change management.
  • Azure Front Door, WAF, custom domains and certificate integration.
  • Azure DNS, Private DNS and private endpoint name resolution.
  • Virtual networks, subnets, route tables, NSGs and private connectivity patterns.
  • Git, pull request review, branching discipline and CI/CD deployment practices.
  • Ability to work in a small team with competing priorities and deliver pragmatic, supportable outcomes.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence coaching engineers who are building Terraform capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy Azure Front Door configuration including routing, custom domains, WAF association and certificate-related settings.
  • Implement Azure public DNS zones and records, including domain validation records required for external services and certificates.
  • Implement Azure Private DNS zones, records, virtual network links and private endpoint name resolution patterns.
  • Support certificate lifecycle management, including ownership, renewal process, validation approach and operational handover.
  • Create and improve Terraform modules and reusable patterns for consistent deployment across environments.
  • Work through Git-based pull requests, Azure DevOps pipelines and controlled promotion between environments.
  • Produce clear documentation, diagrams, runbooks and handover material for support teams.
  • Upskill existing engineers through pairing, walkthroughs and practical knowledge transfer sessions.

The Role

  • Service, maintain and install fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and build strong client relationships
  • Manage your own workload across a regional patch
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
  • Complete accurate service and compliance reports
  • Identify system issues and recommend improvements
  • Work to deadlines while maintaining quality standards
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver efficient service
  • Aim for first-time fixes wherever possible

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience across both fire and security systems
  • Relevant industry qualifications (FIA or equivalent advantageous)
  • Strong fault-finding ability
  • Comfortable with digital reporting systems
  • Solid understanding of health & safety practices
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills
  • Self-motivated and organised approach
  • Full UK driving licence
