Why are we recruiting?
We have an exciting opportunity to join one of our leading Cloud based streams to help us drive stability and improvements with our next generation cloud technology and automation.
This role will be based mainly remote with the occasional visit to the office in Welwyn Garden City
What will you be doing? Infrastructure / DevOps engineers will ensure automation of tasks is at the forefront of speed to deployment of new project work or existing improvements to the infrastructure. Previous experience of working in the financial sector or an ability to provide examples of working in a service critical environment are advantageous.
As an Infrastructure / DevOps engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the infrastructure services meet all regulatory requirements, namely PCI DSS, ISO27001, and Cyber Security Essentials. This will include the introduction of standards to ensure conformity within the PayPoint environments.
You will be responsible for Maintenance:
Maintain and optimise folder setup of .Deployment yaml repos. (or create tooling to abstract this)
Follow Kustomize improvements and apply them to .Deployment yamls (or create tooling to abstract this)
Follow Kubernetes APIs changes and apply them to yamls in .Deployment (or create tooling to abstract this)
Setup pipeline on .Deployment for configuration related items
Maintain APIOps pipeline as recommended by MS (look for updates from MS and apply them to the pipeline, eg. version changes)
Maintain and keep improving CI/CD pipelines
Monitor Terraform provider changes and update modules accordingly and manage provider version conflicts.
Creating new modules for any new resources or combination of resources we use in Azure
Identify new alerts (infra alerts, Azure alerts) and build relevant Grafana dashboards
Update documentation, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that they are followed
Cover on call for 1 week out of 4 per month
And any other duties where applicable
As well as Improvements:
Lower cost of Ingress Controller
Network security
Containers security
Update CD pipelines to include kubernetes yaml quality checks and container security checks
Deploy and tune our monitoring stack
What would we like from you?
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, including its API and YAML deployment.
Proficiency in Terraform, including the ability to create and manage modules.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including setup, maintenance, and improvement.
Knowledge of ArgoCD and Grafana stack and Grafana dashboards or other GitOps tooling.
Understanding of Microsoft’s API Manager and familiarity with APIOps pipeline recommendations.
Familiarity in network and container security rules.
Knowledge of Azure services and resources.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Constant learner who is up-to-date with industry trends.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Experience with Kustomize is a plus.
Familiarity with tools for Kubernetes YAML quality checks.
Experience with AKS clusters.
Certification in Kubernetes, Azure, or other relevant areas is a plus.
