On-site, Reading - AWS System Engineer (Messaging and Streaming Team)
Basic Qualifications:
Scripting experience (BASH, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.).
Strong Linux background and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of networking (DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, routing, switching).
Experience managing secure, scalable, and reliable services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts.
Experience in 24x7 production environments.
Exposure to monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic, etc.)
What does the Messaging and Streaming Team do?
Operates messaging and streaming infrastructure across AWS.
Drives cross-org initiatives to optimize operations and software delivery.
New hires are paired with a peer buddy for onboarding support.
Key Responsibilities of role:
Proactively identify and solve operational issues and inefficiencies.
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for high-severity incident response.
Analyze dashboards/metrics and drive service improvements.
Create and maintain SOPs and runbooks.
Propose and implement automation strategies for operational problems.
Develop long-term solutions to recurring issues.
Collaborate and support team members.
