Our Systems Engineers are expected to be leaders in their teams by becoming subject matter experts on multiple AWS services. They develop, build, deploy, operate, sustain and grow their services in cloud production environments. They are able to utilise trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements. They help develop and refine procedures used by their team and internal customers. They are able to develop at a high standard and can deal with new and ambiguous problem domains while consistently delivering customer impacting change

A day in the life
On a typical day, engineers might dive deep into understanding the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with top engineers at Amazon or discuss radical new approaches to automate solutions to operational issues.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge in system administration (ideally Windows)
Experience of systems automation using (Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell, Batch)
Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding of cloud computing concepts and design considerations
Knowledge of configuration management systems, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, DSC, or related systems
Experience with performance testing and optimisation in a 24x7 production environment
Experience using monitoring platforms, such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar
