We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Information Technology department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and data-driven insights. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and expertise in designing and implementing reports using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organisation to understand and analyse their reporting requirements.
Conduct meetings and workshops to gather detailed insights into business processes, goals, and challenges.
Translate business needs into actionable reporting requirements.
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment of reporting solutions with overall business strategies and objectives.
Develop a deep understanding of the organisation’s data landscape, including sources, structures, and relationships.
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure accurate and reliable data for reporting.
Utilise Microsoft Power BI and other reporting tools to design visually appealing and insightful reports.
Create dashboards that provide actionable insights, key performance indicators (KPIs), and trend analyses.
Possess advanced technical skills in Microsoft Power BI for report creation, data modeling, and visualisation.
Stay current with industry trends and technologies related to business reporting and data visualisation.
Document reporting requirements, data definitions, and report design specifications.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for all reporting processes and solutions.
Conduct thorough testing of reports to ensure accuracy, reliability, and adherence to business requirements.
Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
Provide training and support to end-users on utilizing reports and dashboards effectively.
Act as a point of contact for any reporting-related queries or issues.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in creating and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards.
Strong understanding of Power BI functionalities, including data modeling, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and Power Query.
Experience in developing interactive and user-friendly visualizations to convey complex data insights.
Proficient in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
Ability to write complex queries to retrieve and transform data from various databases.
Understanding of database structures and relationships.
Expertise in designing and implementing data models that support reporting requirements.
Knowledge of best practices in data modeling to ensure efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
Familiarity with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure data integrity and consistency.
Ability to work with data engineers to optimize and streamline ETL pipelines for reporting purposes.
Understanding of best practices in data visualization to create reports that are clear, intuitive, and actionable.
Knowledge of colour theory, layout, and design principles to enhance the user experience.
Ability to adapt and learn new reporting tools as needed.
Knowledge of various database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and their respective nuances.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and architectures.
Basic programming skills, particularly in languages like Python or R, to enhance data analysis capabilities is desirable but not essential.
Automation skills to streamline repetitive reporting tasks.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage and track changes in reporting solutions.
Knowledge of data security and privacy principles, ensuring that reporting solutions comply with data protection regulations and internal security policies.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure for data storage and processing.
Ability to leverage cloud services for scalable and efficient reporting solutions.
Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, or similar platforms to facilitate communication and document sharing within the team.
Qualifications and Soft skills:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst or similar role.
