The Role

As an Applications Engineer, you will take ownership of Electrical projects from sales handover through to manufacture, test and delivery. Acting as the technical point of contact, you’ll work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to specification.

This is a hands-on, project-focused role combining technical coordination, electrical design involvement and shopfloor engagement.

The Electrical Design Engineer role:

This is a new role reporting into the Head of Design who is based in Dublin. Therefore, we are looking for a technical expert, with an electrical design back ground, who is able to work on an autonomous basis, influencing design strategy and driving innovation. The role will involve working directly with project leads, production teams and clients to shape projects from concept to completion. With initial onboarding taking place in Dublin for 3 weeks and an estimated 2 days a month there after. The successful candidate will serve as a vital link between operations and technical teams, contributing to complex projects while advancing their career within a growing international company. The role is very project orientated so it would be desirable for candidates to hold PMP certification.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  • Create schematic designs, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings for switchgear control units using AutoCAD and other CAD tools.
  • Ensure designs meet company, national, and international standards for safety and performance. Experience working to U/L standards desirable.

Project Management:

  • Manage projects from inception to completion, including scope definition, design approvals, and on-time delivery.

What you’ll need to join us as an Electrical Design Engineer:

  • Degree in Electrical Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; MSc in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) advantageous.
  • Post-graduate design experience, ideally in LV switchgear, PDU, or RPP design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD design is desired. Particularly in the creation of 3 phase schematic drawings.
  • Experience producing technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, industry standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent time management, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Project management certification is desirable.
  • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite.

What We re Looking For

  • Experience working with LV switchgear (essential)
  • Electrical qualification (Level 3 or above)
  • Background in applications engineering, project engineering or contracts engineering
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and understand panel layouts
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar 2D design tools
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple moving parts
  • Practical or hands-on experience within switchgear manufacturing is advantageous
  • Good communication skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and join us on our journey as our Senior Project Contract Manager and make your mark with a globally renowned organisation in the rail sector. The Senior Project Contract Manager is a key and integral role working in close collaboration with the Project Manager and core project team.

You will be responsible in providing guidance and leadership to develop, implement, and drive contract/claim management and risk mitigation strategies in accordance with Alstom s business objectives, including extensions of time (EoTs), variations orders, contract amendments. The SPrCM ensures proper record keeping and file preparation in support of robust claim files.

We ll look to you for:

  • Ensure application of Contract, Claims and Insurance Management Manual (CCIM) and Alstom governance.
  • Control of contractors and management of all staff responsible for the maintenance activities.
  • Prepare Contract Summary and ensure it is widely communicated and regularly updated.
  • Analyse the contract to build and drive implementation of Contract/Claim Management Strategy Plan.
  • Monitor Works toward contract obligations, including monitoring of project schedule toward achieving contractual milestones.
  • Ensure timely issuance of contractual notices to customers/partners.
  • Establish and implement project specific commercial procedures, particularly regarding correspondences, notifications, insurance, variation requests/orders and claims preparation files.
  • Develop and produce any project specific processes and ways of working for contract/claim management.
  • Develop a pragmatic commercial approach based on contractual analysis of the project, to protect, on a daily basis, Alstom interests toward customers and partners.
  • Carefully monitor, record, and notify customer/partner regarding claims/counterclaim and prepare and manage all elements and supporting documentation for claims/counterclaims negotiations.
  • Monitor customer/partner requests for variations / change orders / extensions of time.
  • Provide follow-up, as necessary, to drive to transactional closure, including updates to the VO/VR/Delay registers, preparation of commercial offer, and prepares associated contractual letters for CD/PM approval.
  • Provide creative advice on specific issues, risks, and contractual/claim activities, taking into account the contract and business objectives.
  • Provide training on contract/claim management to key stakeholders, including project management, finance, engineering, and sourcing communities.
  • Provide at any time, on management demand, a reliable and understandable contractual and commercial analysis of the project.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% to 30% of the time

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Knowledge using Contract Management systems; Project Management software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office Word Processing software.

  • Fluent English (other languages are an advantage).
