About the role

The EPR2 Development Program , offers a unique opportunity for Junior professionals to join Europe’s largest construction site and build the skills required to support us with our EPR2 builds in France.
Initially you will spend two years in the UK on our HPC project , based either on site or at one of our satellite offices in Bridgwater or Bristol.
After 2 years , you will then be transferred to EDF France, on one of our EPR2 construction site (most likely Penly or Gravelines).

The HPC Commissioning Team is growing as part of its preparation to commission the first nuclear power station to be built in a generation at Hinkley Point C (HPC). You will be part of an expanding team and contribute their knowledge and skills to be an important part of one of the nation’s key infrastructure projects.
Who you are…
The Commissioning Engineer’s role will evolve during the lifecycle of the project and combine technical knowledge with project delivery skills. At the early stages you will contribute to detailed planning and preparation. Following this, you will execute commissioning tests as part of a team, analyse the results to justify the readiness of the HPC units to safely enter commercial operation and handover the system to operation team.
The Planning Discipline of Project Controls, under the direction and leadership of the Commissioning Planning Manager, to be responsible for the management of the Level 2/4 (client) Integrated Work Schedule (IWS) in adherence with HPC processes. This will include managing the alignment of Level 3 (contract) schedules, and provision of time-related data and analysis. To support the IPC Planning Manager in leading central Planning activities for the Project and in developing Planning standards, policies and strategies. To support EDF Energy in making informed decisions to support the efficient and timely delivery of work scope. As a Contract Lead Electrical & Building Systems you will be support the Complex M&E Team Lead - Electrical & Building Systems in the effective and efficient delivery of the group’ Repairs, Maintenance and Capital works via our supporting contractors. Nationally you will act as an escalation point but our focal point around contractor performance and Health and Safety around delivery.
Your responsibility will lie around ensuring the service is customer-focused, efficient and offering value for money for the Group. That delivery adheres to KPIs, and financial targets set. You will hold responsibility for the day-to-day organization, scheduling, supervision and responsibility for the safety, technical standard and quality of the works and associated activities carried out in these areas. The operational delivery of Group policies and procedures to ensure compliance, including the identification, management and mitigation of risk, and production of risk assessments, safe working practice and procedures.
Your role will be to oversee and deliver on the group’s commercial portfolio on several statutory and group led compliance activities which include but are not limited to Communal EICR, PAT Testing, Lightning Protection, Height Safety, Automated Doors, Gates, Barriers and Shutters and other statutory and group led functions. Although this role is advertised in Preston any applications within the Lancashire area will be considered.

What You’ll Be Doing
As one of our Fuel Route Technical Advice Engineers you’ll investigate and identify plant faults and prepare instructions for their rectification; manage routine and defect maintenance, ensuring that plant is maintained and modified in accordance with the Site Licence. This is a front-line role – you will respond to emergent defects and help manage planned maintenance in order to keep the fuel route running smoothly.
Who you are
As our new Fuel Route TAG Engineer, you’ll demonstrate the ability to analyse problems to determine root causes, recognising weaknesses in equipment and being able to propose realistic improvements at a component or system level. You’ll be enthusiastic and flexible with strong communication skills.
You should possess appropriate Electrical or C&I Engineering experience of maintenance and/or plant modifications.
A knowledge of the Fuel Route Systems and maintenance is desirable.
To be appointed in the role, you should be educated to a minimum HNC/HND or Degree level or equivalent in an Engineering biased subject.

As part of the Electrical Power team, you will be leading a multi disciplinary team of engineers, delivering Power Systems design and development and defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs… This role will provide you with an opportunity to travel to various locations throughout the UK, including various BAE, customer and supplier sites.

The Electrical Power Systems Definition team are working on the UK’s next-generation SSN design that incorporates technology from the UK, Australia and the United States. As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer you will be part of a team producing the physical product definition to satisfy a set of multidisciplinary system functional requirements, taking account of safety, cost, manufacturing, in-service support and other considerations. Your engineering capabilities will be developed across a range of design skills and product lifecycle stages, working both in a model-based and 2D drawing engineering environment centred on Catia V5.
Typically your design capabilities will be developed using:
The CATIA V5 Electrical 3D & 2D Design Toolset in the design installation of electrical equipment, routing of electrical harnesses, incorporating support structure and physical separation requirements, taking account of system performance, system safety, system redundancy as well as cost and through-life considerations.
A key aspect of the roles is to demonstrate compliance with functional requirements, including zonal safety analysis in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment.

Producing and issuing Airframe engineering design data to meet project requirements, in line with design standards, whilst maintaining quality, cost and schedule adherence.
Verifying design data prior to a formal independent check criteria to ensure compliance with project standards.
Identifying project technical risks and opportunities, and where appropriate propose mitigation plans.
Supporting all aspects of personal and professional development for yourself and, where appropriate, others in your team.
Evaluating and resolving design queries, and supporting the generation of resulting modifications and changes.
Supporting the definition and resource planning of design workload delivery.

Experience in an Airframe Design role, or equivalent ‘near-neighbour’ disciplines.
Experience of operating in an airframe design role, or equivalent in one or more phases of the product lifecycle.
Awareness of product lifecycle requirements and the importance of governance to product integrity.

Proficiency in a CAD system, typically CATIA V5 or equivalent toolset, with experience in a PLM system.
Experience of working in a multidisciplinary integrated product development environment, influencing adjacent disciplines.
Experience of working with external customers, suppliers and partners.
Experience of managing Design tasks to meet engineering design requirements and programme requirements.
Experience in leading and guiding other Design staff.
Experience in holding a design check signature.
