The Role
The ideal candidate will come from an electrically biased engineering background and should be able to work on their own initiative, be a time served engineer with electrical bias (but multi-skilled) and have fast moving food manufacturing experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of engineering and maintenance activities ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards and maximising machine efficiencies. If you have worked on PLC systems, it would be advantageous. On a day to day basis, you will work on provers, conveyors, metal detectors, refrigeration, gearboxes, pumps, general mechanical work, and other manufacturing machinery. There is a huge amount of training on offer so the successful candidate will be in line to broaden their skills considerably.

We are currently recruitingfor a Design Engineer to work with an exciting and growing engineering and manufacturingcompany.
Monday to Thursday, 4 day working week
Role:
Design and developspecialisedtools, jigs, fixtures, for manufacturing processes using CAD software.
Must have previouslydesigned and detailedMulti-stageprogression tools for small to medium sized pressings, in material thickness between0,2mmand3,00mm (minimum).
Create detailed drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.
Design tooling for both prototyping and mass production(Progression & secondary opp.)
Toassistin updating andmaintainingthe QMS/EMS to meet ISO9001, IATF16949,AS9100and ISO14001 requirements.
Work with engineers, production managers,toolmakersand machinists to understand design requirements andidentifysolutions.
Communicate with various teams to ensure project goals are met.
Liaise with external vendors and customers to ensure designs are cost-effective and meet quality standards
Manage tooling projects from concept to completion, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget.
Coordinate with shop floor staff and other departments to meet production deadlines.
Manage the procurement and inventory of tooling and equipment.
Toassistin problem resolution,production support
Develop key skills and abilities in line with companys personal development plan
Collection and recording ofdata.
Assistin companys continuous improvement projects/activities
Duties and Responsibilities:
Creating detailed 2D and 3D models and blueprints of tools using computer-aided design (CAD) software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD(including detailing & dimensioning).
Working closely with engineers, tool room, Quality, production managers, machinists, and customers to understand project requirements,identifydesign flaws, and ensure the designs meet specifications.
Reviewing technical data and using engineering principles to develop and improve existing tooling designs for manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, and enhanced quality.
Developing prototypes, testingnew designs, and implementing design changes based on feedback and performance data.
Developing andmaintainingdocumentation for tooling, managing projects frominitialdesign to the first production run, and ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
Developing and implementing quality control measures,assistingwith troubleshooting manufacturing problems or equipment faults.
Consulting with outside vendors and suppliers to discuss tooling requirements, negotiate costs, and ensure the quality andtimelydelivery of materials and equipment.
Researching and staying up to date with industry trends, advancements in tool design, and new materials and processes.
Continue with trainingin accordance withdepartment skills matrixand personal development plan
Key Requirements:
Proficiencyin programs likeAutoCAD,SolidWorks, orCATIAis essential for creating designs and models.
A deep understanding of various processes such as stamping/pressings, and other tooling development methods is crucial.
Knowledge ofdifferent materials, their properties, and how they perform in tooling isacore requirement.
Expertisein 3Dmodelling, drafting techniques, and reading engineering drawings is fundamental.
A strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is a key technical competency.
Familiarity with simulation software foranalyzingtool performance can be beneficial.
