Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a large engineering team at a state-of-the-art, highly automated manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repair across a variety of automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Work on conveyors, mixers, ovens, kilns and other large-scale industrial machinery.

About the role:

As an EC&I Technician, you’ll provide electrical, control and instrumentation support to the plant mainly focussed on planned and unplanned maintenance activities. You’ll also provide some support on modification and replacement projects.

Based in Uddingston near Glasgow, Daldowie Treatment Works is one of the largest plants of its type in Europe. For nearly 25 years the plant has focussed on creating wdf pellets from sewage sludge reducing environmental impacts as well as creating a new fuel source replacing the need to burn fossil fuels.

Day to day you’ll support the process by providing timely repairs to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities including instrumentation calibrations. You’ll ensure that all work is managed and recorded correctly to maintain compliance, inspiring safe ways of working across the site, setting a high standard of EC&I engineering activity, and supporting in rolling out new processes, systems, and ways of working to your colleagues on site.

You’ll be joining a tight knit, dedicated team based on site, who are also part of a larger group with a wide support network.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll need to have experience in solving problems and being a strong communicator to be able to persuade and influence others.
You should be educated to at least ONC level in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering and should have served a recognised Apprenticeship.

Specifically, you’ll need plant experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, including but not restricted to, 3 phase motors and associated switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, motor control centres and 3 phase and single-phase distribution systems.

You’ll be able interpret schematic drawings, single line diagrams and PLC ladder logic.

Ideally, you’ll also have process plant experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and calibration of plant instrumentation and control systems including, but not restricted to, systems for the measurement of temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and ph.

I am currently recruiting for a company who are an systems integrator on a global scale across the world, they operate in numerous countries with plenty of tier one clients and are currently consistently growing across the UK over the past numerous years.

On this new site in Castle Donington, since the site- opened nearly 5 years ago there has been £75 million invested to keep up with the demand of the site, Over the last couple of years, there was a large expansion installing some new shuttle systems. With the latest automation and technology the site processes over 120,000 orders a day – the sites aim is to get the unit out of the warehouse 30, showing how state-of-the art and slick the process is. In a shift team there is a Maintenance Team Leader, Deputy Team leader, a few engineers and a couple of Automation Assistants. Having an Automation Assistant on shift will allow you as an Engineer to look into the Continuous Improvement of the site as this is a big thing for the longevity of the site.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Your responsibilities will include reactive and PPM tasks, further to this there are various electrical and mechanical responsibilities.
