An exciting opportunity has arisen within SPS Headquarters as we recruit for a Specialist Systems Engineer (Electrical/Digital) to join our Estates Team. The postholder shall provide support to the SPS Estates Head of Professional and Technical Services providing strategic direction for and delivering electrical/digital specialist systems design advice service on behalf of Estates and Technical Services, progressing initiatives as requested.

The postholder shall act as design champion and ensure that a standard suite of suitable design standards are available and kept under continual review, providing project specific guidance, advice and assistance in the delivery of projects to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes. The role will promote quality design in contributing to the aims of the SPS and in ensuring delivery of positive outcomes for the users of the SPS buildings and estate. Supporting and co-ordinating business and design/digital improvement initiatives, including transition to Net Zero.

The post holder shall provide specialist system technical support to Project Managers and Estates Maintenance teams on design, operation, maintenance and safety of electrical systems. Undertake inspections of installed systems and audits of working practices to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and that safe operating conditions are maintained.

The post holder is required to establish, build and maintain relationships with UK, other prison and judicial authorities, other governmental groups (Scottish and UK) and advisory organisations, sharing knowledge and best practice, contributing to local and national initiatives as required.

If you have the following, we would like to hear from you:

  • A degree level qualification in a relevant Electrical/Electronics/Digital discipline (Essential)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body. (Desirable)

What Are We Looking For?

Our client are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Static Maintenance Electrician to carry out maintenance works at a static site in Livingston.

Maintenance / repairs / replacements of lighting / rewires /electrical testing and all general electrical duties and including all other duties including mechanical on site.

We are looking for a candidate who has knowledge of electrical systems and over 5 years experience in similar Electrical/ HVAC/ Maintenance Engineer type role.

This post will be based on a static role, covering our clients site in Livingston.

There is no vehicle with this role and candidate will be required to make their own way to site.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES

This role operates on a 4 on 4 off shift rota, working 10-hour shifts (8am6pm).

There is another Electrician on site, and the rota will be shared between them.

Day-to-day duties will include attending reactive calls raised from the control room, carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks such as emergency lighting tests, distribution board checks, Air Handling Units (AHUs), supply and extract fans, as well as completing weekly tests including fire alarm call points, sprinkler alarms, generator tests, flushing, and other routine checks.

The candidate will also be required to liaise with and support subcontractors, assist mobile support engineers, and report directly to the onsite Operations Manager.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong knowledge of electrical systems and over 5 years experience in a similar Electrical / HVAC / Maintenance Engineer type role.
